I was a sophomore in college when my roommates introduced me to what they referred to as “pink dip”. When they told me it was cream cheese and salsa mixed together, I’ll admit I was skeptical. All doubts disappeared after I put the first bite in my mouth. It was delicious! After that, it became a staple during our weekly “Gilmore Girls” watch party. (You know, back when we did that in person…)
I still love eating pink dip but I’ve changed the name to creamy salsa dip. One of the best things about it is how truly simple it is to make. I always have the ingredients on hand and it only takes a few minutes to heat up. I can make a single serving for myself or make a larger batch and serve it at a party.
Oh, and in case you missed it: there are only 2 ingredients. Three, if you count the tortilla chips used for dipping.
How to Make Creamy Salsa Dip
Gather your cream cheese and salsa. Ideally, you want to have the cream cheese and salsa at room temperature. This will help them combine more quickly when you heat them up.
Next, put the salsa and cream cheese into a small bowl. Place it in the microwave for 30 seconds, stirring to combine. Heat the dip in 30 second intervals, stirring each time until cream cheese is fully combined with the salsa.
Last, serve warm with tortilla chips.
If you have any leftovers, store them covered in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Is there a certain type of salsa that works best?
Yes. I always use a chunkier salsa. I’ve found that thinner salsa is more watery.
Can I use homemade salsa?
Yes, but I still recommend making sure it’s thicker/chunkier.
What is the best way to keep the dip warm if I’m serving it at a party?
A small warming crock pot works great! If you are making a larger batch of dip, you can just add the cream cheese and salsa into it and let it heat up. Make sure to stir the dip up every few minutes so it combines well.
Can I make the dip ahead of time?
Yes. You can use the microwave or crock pot to heat the dip up. Then you just store it in the fridge until you’re ready to reheat and serve it.
