I love how certain smells take me back to memories or places or remind me of people. It seems like Christmastime is full of delicious scents from baking, cooking, candles, lotions and so many other things. This month, when I received my Simply Earth recipe box subscription, I found some great recipes that not only smell good, but are perfect for gift giving. They even included some twine and gift tags with my box!
Check out what I was able to make from this month’s box:
Citrus Christmas Room Spray
Citrus and pine are two of the most common smells this time of year. I was able to make the perfect room spray using the Mandarin and Pine Scotch essential oils included in my kit. A small spray bottle was also part of my box which was so nice because I didn’t have anything like that on hand. The smell is just what you’d expect from citrus and pine and I think the bathroom would be a great place to keep this little room spray bottle. Plus, what a fun and unique gift idea!
Christmas Candy Diffuser Blend
Using the Candy Cane blend and the Mandarin essential oil, I was able to mix up a master blend using a 5ml bottle (included with the Bonus Box). It was so quick and easy!
Candy Cane Lip Balm
Every Simply Earth recipe box comes with three pure essential oils and one blend. This month, the blend is called Candy Cane and it is a mix of Spearmint, Frankincense, Orange and Lemon essential oils. The resulting smell is sharp, fresh and minty with a hint of citrus. And since it gets pretty dry and cold where I live, lip balm really does make a great gift. (I was able to make two using the lip balm tubes included in this box, but you can also buy additional tubes here.)
Mandarin Sugar Scrub
Where I live, winter can do a number on your skin so having a sugar scrub is a great way to exfoliate, plus you’re left with soft skin and a subtle scent. Keep this in the shower or bathtub. You could even put this near the sink to do a quick hand exfoliation. The recipe included in the box suggested I mix ground coffee beans with the mandarin essential oil, but since I don’t drink coffee (and therefore have no coffee beans) I simply left them out. A super simple and easy adaptation! I put the scrub in a small mason jar, covered the lid with a piece of festive paper and tied a tag on with twine. Ta-da! Now it’s ready to give away (or keep. I won’t tell!).
Cold Buster Roll On
Keeping with the gift giving and wintertime theme, this month’s recipe box gave me everything I needed to make a roll on. (The roll on and carrier oil were also included in my Bonus Box.) It can be applied to pulse points for congestion relieve, focus and energy. I know I definitely can’t be alone in needing all of those things during the cold months!
Hopefully this post gave you some ideas for giving the gift of good smelling goodies. You could gift any one of these fun items with a simple gift tag attached with ribbon. Another option would be to make a little gift box, such as the triangle treat box I shared earlier this month or to package them as shown in this post. No matter how you do it, these five homemade gift ideas will leave the recipients happy and grateful!
