In the last 68 years since the story of the Grinch was shared, it’s become a part of many family Christmas traditions. I think this is because it hits on a lesson that many parents are trying to teach their kids–that Christmas isn’t about the presents. It’s not uncommon for kids to have Grinch days at school and to see people wearing shirts with him on it. Or even the famous quote: “Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”

So to join in on the fun of the Grinch at Christmastime, I created a Grinch word search printable. You can use it at home as part of a Grinch party or at school. Another idea is to print it out and give it as a cute activity for your neighbors’ kids with some cookies or treats.

Age Range – I would recommend this Grinch word search printable for kids age 7+.

History of How the Grinch Stole Christmas Book and Movies

Dr. Seuss’s book “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” was published in 1957. It was inspired by the author’s own feelings of Christmas commercialism and his wife’s health struggles. According to Dr. Seuss, Christmas of 1956 made him feel “very Grinchish” as he looked in the mirror. (source) Since then, the popular book has been adapted into 3 main movies: the 1966 animated TV special, the 2000 live-action film and the 2018 computer-animated movie.
