As we move into cooler weather, there are certain smells that I always associate with fall, such as pumpkin, cinnamon and the way the leaves smell and crunch as they fall off the trees. Whether or not fall has officially come to where you live, you can prepare for fall by having these fall scents from pure essential oils in your home can help you feel a little more cozy.

I was so excited to receive my recipe box from Simply Earth this month because I knew it was going to be a good one. The recipes included were very simple and the essential oils are perfect for fall: Cassia, Orange, Balsam Fir and a blend called Focus (cardamom, frankincense, eucalyptus and sweet orange). Out of the six recipes, I’ve made two of them so far: a Cassia and Orange scented candle and lip balm made with the Focus blend.
To make the candle, I used the soy wax, beeswax and coconut oil I’d received in my bonus box when I got my first recipe box. Included in this month’s box was a wick and the essential oils I needed. I used a little container I already had to put the candle in and actually doubled the recipe to fill it up. To measure the soy wax, the recipe card shows that you need 1/2 cup or 1.5 oz. I like using my small digital kitchen scale to get precise but you could definitely use a regular measuring cup. The finished candle smells so good and I can’t wait to light it!

The lip balm was a little trickier to make since the beeswax and coconut oil melt at different rates. I just kept popping it in the microwave for 15-20 second intervals and stirring each time until it was all melted down. Two lip balm containers were included in the box this month and I still had a tiny bit left over after filling both of them. I use lip balm on a regular basis and I love knowing exactly what went into this homemade kind!
Simply Earth Gives Back
Something I really love is when companies partner with non-profit organizations to give a portion of each sale to support them. That is exactly what Simply Earth does. Every month, they partner with a different organization who is working to make a difference to stop human trafficking. This means that for each Simply Earth Recipe Box you purchase, 13% of the proceeds go to support charities that are working towards fighting human trafficking.
13% of the proceeds of each Simply Earth Recipe Box you purchase goes directly to supporting charities that are working towards fighting human trafficking.
This month, the non-profit is 5 Stones. They are working to make a difference by raising awareness of the magnitude of sex trafficking in the state of Wisconsin. Their 5 Stones of action are: Awareness, Education, Prevention, Networking and Collaboration to help bring an end to modern day slavery. You can view a video about the realities of human trafficking and learn more about their work by heading over to www.5-stones.org.
My husband and I work hard for the money we earn, so knowing that the products or services we spend our money on are high-quality and reliable are important to us. I like knowing that I am getting what I pay for. The same thing goes for donating money to charities. You want to know that it’s actually supporting the people or cause you are giving your hard earned money to. This is just one of the reasons I love Simply Earth. (You can read more about them in this post here.)

It was a lot of fun to try something I’ve never done before! Candles make a great gift.
