I love making Valentine’s decorations. Each year I add something (or multiple somethings) to my collection and I absolutely love how this year’s turned out. Valentine’s Day might be just one day of the year that’s dedicated to love but really, we all know that we should be trying to show love every day of the year. So while this is being shared as a Valentine’s SVG, it’s a design that you could keep up all year round as a sweet reminder.

I used the design on a thin piece of wood and framed it but there are other ways you could use it as well. Think about putting a piece of patterned paper in a frame and then cutting this design out of vinyl and placed it on top of the glass. Then you can change out the patterned paper for a totally new look!

Another idea would be to use a box frame. I have a tutorial on how to make your own box frame or you could buy a pre-made one.

If you’d like to replicate my framed wood Valentine’s sign, here are the supplies you need:

How to Make Your Valentine’s Sign

First, paint the wood using the acrylic paint and foam brush. I did two coats, letting it dry completely after each coat. (The great thing about acrylic paint is that is dries pretty quickly.)

While the paint is drying, load your vinyl and cutting mat into your Silhouette and then send the file to cut. Weed it out using the hook tool.

Then cut a piece of transfer tape to cover the vinyl and rub it on. If you use glitter vinyl like I did, you may have to rub it a little more to get it to stick well to the transfer tape. Peel the backing off of the vinyl and position the design over the center of the painted wood panel.

Rub the vinyl to secure it to the panel and then carefully peel the transfer tape off.

Frame your wood panel and display your new sign!
