Next to Christmas and Easter, the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. I love pulling out all the red, white and blue decorations and always seem to find a way to add just one more every year. But it isn’t just the decorations I love: it’s the fireworks, the celebration of unity and showing gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy as a nation.
So when I was trying to come up with a design to share with you, I kept it simple. I absolutely love how this simple freedom and fireworks file turned out! It is super versatile and could easily be used on the following projects:
- t-shirts
- scrapbook pages
- home decor

As you can see, I made a t-shirt for my son using a smooth heat transfer vinyl (HTV). The white stands out perfectly against the red shirt. But I think using a combination of vinyl in patriotic colors would be a great way to change it up and add a little personality. (A holographic or glitter vinyl for the word “fireworks” would be perfect!)
To make the 4th of July t-shirt as shown, you will need the following materials:
- Silhouette machine
- Cutting mat
- Weeding tool
- Freedom and Fireworks SVG file (see below)
- HTV vinyl in desired colors
- Cotton t-shirt in desired size (unisex and/or kids)
- Iron or heat press
If you haven’t ever made a t-shirt using HTV, I have a super detailed tutorial you can check out here on my blog. I share all the tips and tricks I’ve learned about how to use smooth heat transfer vinyl. If you find that you want to use flocked HTV or even glitter HTV, there are a few additional tips you will want to know. Those tutorials can also be found here on my blog.
Where to get quality heat transfer vinyl (HTV)
One of my favorite places to buy my HTV is from Expressions Vinyl. They have an amazing variety of colors and patterns at a great price. The vinyl is easy to weed, cuts beautifully and I’m always so happy with the end product. I have purchased smaller 12×12 sheets and I’ve bought rolls of it as well. No matter what type of vinyl you need (or want), they have it!
