Happy Monday everyone! Even better, it’s the first Monday of the new year AND my baby girl is 10 months old as of today. It’s a good day my friends. For those of you who have been around for a while, you might remember my Month In Numbers posts that I did back in 2017. They were some of my favorite posts because I got a share a little bit of the behind the scenes of my life in a fun and unique way. So I’m bringing it back this year!
40 – Cups of white chocolate popcorn snack mix made. My husband and I worked together to make our white chocolate popcorn snack mix for him to take to work and share with his co-workers for Christmas. It is one of my very favorite snacks: pretzels, popcorn, Chex cereal, M&Ms and white chocolate. It is super versatile and makes a TON for really inexpensive. You can check out the recipe and save to make the next time you have a party or get together.
2 – Cute kids dancing at their mid-year recital. My daughter started her 4th year of dance last fall and my son started his 2nd year of hip hop. Their dance studio held their mid-year recital about half way into December and it was so cute and fun to watch them up there on the stage.
1 – School Christmas program. With my daughter being in 1st grade this year, it is also the first year she’s had a school Christmas program. She was so excited to see us in the audience and kept waving, winking and giving thumbs up. She sang so many of the songs at home that my son even sang along and the baby flailed her arms around and watched with wide eyes.
9 – How many months old my baby is. My baby girl may be 10 months old today but last month she was 9 months and I’m a little bit in denial that we are this close to her first birthday. You may or may not know that she is our little rainbow baby that came to us after multiple miscarriages and now that she’s finally here with us, time is going so fast. She’s been alive just as long as I was pregnant with her and she’s getting so big and smart and beautiful.
10 – Orders placed on Amazon. This year, most of our Christmas shopping was done online. We ended up placing so many orders because we wanted to group certain things together (*a-hem* Santa gifts), or I wanted to place orders for my husband and then tell him not to check his phone notifications for when/what was being delivered, or we just plain forgot to order something and Amazon is easier than braving the crowds that close to Christmas. How many Amazon orders did YOU place?
6 – Inches of snow we received. We normally receive a pretty good dump of snow in December, but only got a few inches. We did have a white Christmas though and that was magical for the kids. While I generally dislike the snow, I love watching my kids (and husband) have so much fun together playing in it and letting my baby experience it for the first time when we went sledding on New Years Eve day.
3 – Happy kids on Christmas morning. As I was looking back through my pictures from Christmas day, I realized that I didn’t take very many. This is very unlike me, as I’ve deemed myself the “family photographer” for both immediate and extended family. But it’s really okay because it meant that I was enjoying the time with my family rather than worrying about capturing the perfect moment (which I try to do a lot). We opened presents by the light of the Christmas tree, played together, laughed at the baby playing with and trying to eat the wrapping paper and just had a great morning.
54 – Loads of dishes run through the dishwasher over Christmas break. Okay, this is totally a made-up estimate of the number of loads we ran, but holy crap! So. Many. Dishes. We really should have used paper plates more often so we didn’t have to worry about dishes.
89 – Dollars saved at the Bath and Body Works Semi Annual Sale. One of my guilty pleasures is good smelling hand soap. I used to buy the soap from Bath and Body Works even when I was a poor college student. I worked at Bath and Body Works in New York the summer after my husband and I got married. Good soap is just something I love. And so I take advantage of their semi annual sales every year to stock up on more yummy smelling soap. My husband doesn’t get it, but he also doesn’t mind, especially when I get it on sale. I went at the end of last month and was able to score 2 lotions, a 3-wick candle, 4 wallflower refills and 9 hand soaps for just under $50! I saved $89.76 which is almost twice what I paid for everything and I feel pretty good about that! *wink*
I hope you enjoy getting to know a little more about me and I’d love for you to share something about yourself as well if you want in the comments.
(Also feel free to join me if you’d like by linking your own Month In Numbers post! It will be here on my blog on the first Monday of each month and will be left open for two weeks.)
