I often seen memes going around about how Christmas is basically from November 1 thru the day before Thanksgiving, then it picks back up the day after and continues through December 25. This makes me a little sad because I truly love Thanksgiving and feel like there is a tendency for it to get overshadowed by Christmas. Yes, Christmas is beautiful and fun and full of traditions and meaning. But I think there’s something to the fact that Thanksgiving (as a holiday and expression of gratitude) comes before the Christmas season.
To help my own family remember to focus on gratitude during the month of November, I made this gratitude cube printable. It’s easy to print off at home and glue or tape together.
How to Play with/Use the Gratitude Cube
The cube is used the same way no matter when you play with it, but I love that you can make it work with your own schedule. All you need to do is assemble the cube (instructions below and on the printable), roll it and answer the prompt. There are a few times/situations to use this gratitude cube that I came up with:
- At the dinner table
- Before bedtime
- During after school snacks
- Family night

How to Assemble the Gratitude Cube
Step 1
Print out the gratitude cube. Cut it out along the solid lines.
Step 2
Fold along all the dashed lines.
Step 3
Apply an adhesive to the tabs. You can use a glue stick, tape, or (my personal favorite) roller tape.
Step 4
Assemble the cube by tucking the tabs in and pressing them to the corresponding side. I found that it’s easiest to attach the “I’m thankful for…” tab last.
Step 5
You’re ready to play! Refer to the list of ideas at the top of the post or come up with your own version.
