Each time I visit an aquarium, I think of how much more fun and interactive my kids could be if they had a small activity book to record their experience. So I decided to design my own! This cute aquarium folding book printable is just one sheet of printer paper that folds up to create 8 pages of activities. As I created it, I asked my kids for ideas about what they would want to see included. They helped me come up with some great activities that I think your kids will enjoy too!

Last month, my husband and I visited the OdySea Aquarium in Scottsdale, AZ. It was a lot of fun and they have some really unique features, including the world’s only rotating aquarium experience! And in the summer of 2022, my family and I went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium as part of our 7-day Oregon Coast road trip. Our kids loved it, especially all the outdoor exhibits. I highly recommend both of them if you will be visiting either area.

How to Assemble the Aquarium Folding Book

To assemble the folding book, first you need to fold the paper in half along the longest middle line. (step 1)

Then, unfold the paper. Rotate it 90 degrees and fold along the center line. (step 2)

Keeping that line folded, pick the left or right side and fold the edge towards the center. Rotate it 180 degrees and repeat. (step 3)

Next, unfold the two folds you just made, but keep the center line folded. Using a pair of scissors, cut along the solid line only. (step 4)

Now, open up the entire paper so that you can see all the pages. Take the left and right (short) sides and fold them in half along the crease you already made and push towards the center. You should have an “X” if you look at it from the top. (step 5 and 6)

Lay the paper on a flat surface and find the front cover. The page to the left of it is the back cover. Fold along this crease so you only see the front and back covers. All the other pages should fold in nicely so you end up with a little book. (step 7 and 8)

From here, you can use the book at your next visit to the aquarium!

*PRO TIP* If you’d like the book to sit a little flatter, you can use a glue stick or double sided tape on the inside to adhere the cover/page 1 and page 4/page 5 together.

I hope this little aquarium folding book printable enriches your kids experience as they learn about the animals, reptiles and more at your local aquarium!
